I am a professional portrait and wedding
photographer. My passion for photography started 25 years ago when my
father started teaching me about photography. I loved our photography
outings and reviewing our work together afterwards. In 1997 I met
Dallas in high school. He quickly learned that if he wanted to be part
of my life he too would have to learn about photography. Starting as my
model for various school projects he eventually picked up a camera and
started to learn the trait. In July of 2000 we shot our first wedding
for a friend of the family.
In 2005 Dallas and I started Just For
You with a focus on wedding photography. Now we offer a full range of
photography and videography services as well as digital design,
restoration and preservation options. We are currently developing
a few new product lines that will be launched later this year and we are
starting TTL photography club in Lac du Bonnet.
I get to know my clients, what they
do, where they work, how they met, what their favourite pastimes are and
more. I share in the joy of a wedding, the tenderness of baby’s first
portrait shoot, and the fun of a family portrait shoot. It is this bond
that I develop with my clients that lets me capture their individuality
and the very essence of their lives. It is not uncommon to see me shed
a tear during the ceremony or laugh so hard with the wedding party that
it becomes hard to work. It is also not uncommon for me to wade into
the lake to get the perfect image of a family’s favourite spot or bring
fresh picked wild flowers to the studio to add that final touch.
The editing process that we undertake
is done because of our love of the work and the element digital lets us
explore. Be it placing a baby on shears, for the owner of a hair
studio, or turning a wedding portrait into a ‘60’s style poster, for the
owner of a garage; this extra step lets us further explore our client’s
individuality as we create digital works of art with them in mind.
My Family
I’ve given some insight into my work
life, now I’ll tell you a bit about my personal life. Dallas and I
started dating in high school. He finally popped the question in 2004
and we were married the following June. We have three children that we
love to pieces as they slowly drive us nuts. Skylor is 10, Nathan is 3
and our third, Danny, was born in the summer of 2009. Our kids are a
regular fixture at our Lac du Bonnet Studio where we home school, play
and work. My mom also helps out at the store by doing all the paper
work and filing that I just can’t seem to bring myself to do. It is
great being able to work with my family.
Outside of the studio we love
spending even more time with the kids as we plan family outings to the
zoo, sledding and swimming at the beach or driving to Gimli for coffee.
Our favourite thing to do is stay at home and play games or curl up on
the couch and watch a good movie together.
Needless to say things get a little
crazy around here but we all have a good time working together.
